Washing your windows doesn’t have to be a strenuous chore. You just have to use the right approach when cleaning to remove stains and dirt quickly and easily. In today’s blog post, Sentry Exteriors, one of the top window and roofing contractors in our area, shares some lesser-known tips for cleaning your windows.
-
Don’t Use Newspapers or Paper Towels – There are much better uses for all the old newspapers lying around your home. You should never use paper towels or newspapers to wipe your windows because they break down and leave lint behind on the glass. Use microfiber cloth instead because it will remove dust and dirt while leaving nothing behind.
-
Double Your Supplies – As one of the top home improvement and gutter companies in our area, we recommend having separate cleaning tools and supplies for the inside and outside of your window. This will make sure that you always have ample supplies for the task at hand. Using two different microfiber cloths will make sure that both sides of your windows are as clean as possible.
-
Clean Your Windows Twice a Year – Cleaning your windows twice a year will prevent the buildup of tough mineral deposits from the rain. The more you put this chore off, the deeper set the stains become and the harder they are to remove. It’s better to clean your windows regularly if you don’t want to have a tough time.
-
Clean the Window Frames First – Dirt and grime can hide in the window frame and on the tracks. If this grime is mixed with window cleaner, then it turns into a sludge that can drip onto the glass while you are cleaning it. You can clean your window tracks using a toothbrush and a sprinkle of vinegar and baking soda. Scrub inside the tracks and then wipe away the residue.
